The Colorado Public Works Journal Summer 2020 3 Jo Taylor, Managing Editor Editor PUBLIC WORKS COLORADO J O U R N A L REMEMBER that Colorado Public Works Journal can now be read online, on your phone, tablet or other mobile device. Please go there, take a look and let us know what you think. Coloradopublicworksjournal.com f we have learnt anything in the last 4 months it is that we can carry on and we will survive. Many organizations have discovered that if they are to be successful they must enable their business to be conducted from anywhere, anytime and with anybody. Trusting their staff to perform remotely and providing them with technologies that allow them to stay connected is key. Tools such as Zoom, Teams and Webex are helpful to make people feel connected, discuss projects and allows for sharing files via screen share. I know that it has helped me to feel that I am a part of something when I am invited to attend a virtual meeting, whether it be a training session, a corporate meeting, or even a happy hour! This month the CAPA Safety Council was established to help companies learn and share from each other how and what they are doing to adapt their businesses and teach their staff now working in the COVID world. How compliancy varies with different contractors and each of their own policies. What has been effective, the problems they are having and how to manage safety orientation for field personnel who have no computer skills. This is a great resource for our industry and another example of how we are coming together in times of need. I am pleased to say that having been out in person a little since the restrictions were lifted, everyone I have met is doing their upmost to care for themselves and others. Some have requested I sign a waiver, have my temperature checked and wear a mask before I enter the building. Others have the front doors locked and have met with me in the parking lot and some have preferred we conduct business over the telephone. Whatever is your preference we will respect. But, please do not forget that we at CPWJ still want to hear about your news, your projects, your new hires, new premises, to share with our industry. Use advertising to keep your brand in front of your customers when you can’t be. Never before has CPWJ been such a valuable tool to keep us all connected on-line, in print and on social media. As our Snow & Ice ‘virtual’ Conference & Buyers Guide will attest to, we are bringing education and training to you. When large gatherings are not possible you can still learn and be informed via webinars, tutorials and virtual demos from the comfort of your home or office. A big thank you and a virtual hug goes to our advertising partners and the APWA for making this happen. I Mailing List Maintenance - COVID update Working from home and miss seeing your copy of CPWJ?
